Privacy policy
What we collect when you visit this site, buy or activate Swanky Amp Pro, or email us, and why. The short version comes first.

The short version
This site uses Google Analytics only if you allow it, and you can change your mind at any time under Privacy choices.
When you buy Swanky Amp Pro, Paddle takes the payment and tells us your email address and what you bought. We never see your card details.
When you activate Swanky Amp Pro, it sends us your product key and one-way codes made from your computer's identifiers, so that we can limit how many computers a key activates. After that it works offline, and from version 2.0 it sends nothing more.
We email you about your licence, answer your support email, and send release news only if you asked for it. We don't sell your information, and none of it goes to advertising platforms.
Who we are
Resonant DSP Inc., a company incorporated in Ontario, Canada, is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. “Resonant DSP”, “we” and “us” mean that company.
For any question, request or complaint about your personal information, contact our privacy officer at support@resonantdsp.com.
You can also write to our privacy officer at Resonant DSP Inc., 2 Bloor Street West, Suite 700, Toronto, Ontario M4W 3E2, Canada.
Visiting this site
Cloudflare hosts this site and its downloads. To deliver each page and file, Cloudflare handles your IP address, the address you asked for and the technical details your browser sends with every request. We keep no log of visits.
Images, fonts, audio and video come from this site's own address, and audio and video load only when you press play. No advertising or social media scripts run on any page.
Links to other sites, such as YouTube or GitHub, take you to pages covered by those sites' own privacy policies.
Buying Swanky Amp Pro
Paddle.com is the reseller and merchant of record for Swanky Amp Pro. At checkout, Paddle asks for your email address, your country, a postal code where tax requires one, and your payment details. If you pay with PayPal, PayPal handles the payment. We never see your card or account details. Paddle's privacy notice covers what Paddle does with them.
Paddle tells us your email address, your order number, what you bought and what you paid. We use these to send your product key, to answer support and refund requests, and to keep the records tax law requires. You need to give an email address to buy, because that is where we send your product key.
The checkout also asks whether you want news of later releases, and we record your answer with your order.
Earlier purchases of Swanky Amp Pro were paid through PayPal. We keep the payment records PayPal gave us, which include the buyer's name and email address, for the same reasons.
Activating Swanky Amp Pro
When you enter your product key on a computer, Swanky Amp Pro sends one request over an encrypted connection to resonantdsp.com. It carries the product name, your product key and a code made from each of these: the file system number of your home folder (on Windows, of the system folder), the hardware identifier your operating system gives the computer, and the hardware address of each network adapter. Each code is a hash, a fixed-length value calculated one way from the original, so the identifiers themselves are never sent.
Our activation server keeps a record of each activation: when it happened, which key it used, and a further hash of each of up to three of those codes, combined with your key. That is how it recognizes a computer it has activated before, so activating again doesn't count as a new computer, and how it limits how many computers a key can activate.
Cloudflare, which runs the activation server, sees your IP address in order to answer. The server doesn't log the request or keep your IP address.
After activation, the licence is kept in a file on your computer, and the plug-in doesn't check it with the server again.
Version 1.3 of Swanky Amp Pro also sends the path of your home folder, repeats your key and the codes after activating or choosing the demo, and asks for a product message when its window opens. Our server ignores these and keeps none of them.
From version 2.0, the demo sends nothing. Choosing it saves a small file on your computer with the plug-in version and the date you chose it, and that file stays on your computer.
Update checks
From version 2.0, Swanky Amp Free asks resonantdsp.com whether a newer version exists, at most once a day, when you open its window. The request fetches one fixed file and carries no identifier. The site sees only what every web request carries, such as your IP address.
Resend delivers our licence email, which carries your product key, and our list email. We don't track whether you open any of our emails or click their links.
List email is about new releases and new products. Each one carries our postal address and a link to unsubscribe, and unsubscribing stops them.
Support email comes to support@resonantdsp.com, an inbox hosted by Fastmail. We read what you send and use it only to answer you.
Our legal basis
If you live in the EU or the UK, data protection law asks us to name the legal basis for each use of your information. We handle your order and licence to fulfil our agreement with you, and keep tax records because the law requires it. We send list email with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Analytics rest on your consent, which you can change at any time under Privacy choices.
We deliver this site, answer update checks, limit how many computers a key activates, answer support email and keep backups because we have a legitimate interest in running the site and the plug-ins, protecting the licence, keeping it working and answering the people who write to us. You can object to any of these uses by writing to support@resonantdsp.com.
Who we share it with
We use the service providers below, each only for the job named here. We share personal information with no one else, except our professional advisers, such as our accountant, and when the law requires it.
Cloudflare hosts this site, the activation server and its database.
Paddle sells the licence and takes payment.
Resend sends licence email and list email.
Fastmail hosts the support inbox.
GitHub runs the scheduled job that backs up our database, and Backblaze stores the encrypted backups.
Google measures visits with Google Analytics, if you allow it.
The one other case is a change of owner: if our business passes to a new owner, your information goes with it and stays covered by this policy.
Where your information is stored
We are based in Canada. Our service providers are based mainly in the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia, and our backups are stored in the United States. Your information may therefore be stored and processed outside your country, where it may be accessible to the courts, law enforcement and national security authorities of that country.
How long we keep it
Your order, product key and activations are kept for as long as the licence exists, because they are what keep the key working and let us send it to you again. Order records are also kept for as long as tax law requires.
If you asked for release news, you stay on the mailing list until you unsubscribe.
We keep encrypted backups of our database so that no one's licence can be lost. Backups are not edited, so a record you ask us to delete stays in the backups made before then.
Support email stays in the inbox for as long as it helps us answer you.
How we protect it
This site, the activation request and our email use encrypted connections, our backups are encrypted, and only we can sign in to the services that hold your information.
If a breach of our safeguards creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will tell you and report it to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, as the law requires.
Your rights
You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask for a copy, and ask us to correct it, delete it or stop using it. Write to support@resonantdsp.com and we will answer within 30 days. We may first ask you to confirm who you are, for example by writing from the email address you bought with. Deleting your licence record ends the licence, since the key can no longer be checked.
If you live in the EU or the UK, you also have the right to limit how we use your information, to object to a use, and to receive your information in a form another service can read.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please tell us. You can also complain to the privacy regulator where you live. In Canada, that is the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Children
Our products and mailing list are not meant for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us their information, write to support@resonantdsp.com and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. When we do, we change the date at the top of this page. If we start collecting something new, this page will say so before we do.
